Heat oven to 350° F. Toss cracker crumbs with 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine and set aside. In remaining butter or margarine sauté onions over low heat until tender cool. In a separate bowl, add milk to eggs with salt and pepper beat well. Add onions. Pour into an ungreased 10-inch pie pan and sprinkle grated cheese over top, followed by buttered cracker crumbs. Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until firm. Cool slightly before cutting to serve.
