Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 onion , chopped
1 (46-ounce) can tomato juice
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can tomato soup
2 (16-ounce) cans dark red kidney beans , drained and rinsed
1 cup long-cooking rice , uncooked
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1 salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Brown ground beef and onion over medium heat in a skillet; drain. Combine with remaining ingredients in a large oven-safe pot; stir well. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 2 to 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes.
