In a frying pan, brown ground beef and sausage until no longer pink. Drain if necessary. Stir in cheese and seasonings. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until cheese is melted. Spread meat mixture onto rye slices and then place slices onto two large baking sheets. Cover with plastic wrap. Freeze for 1 hour. Carefully place in freezer bags until ready to use.
To bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place frozen appetizers on baking sheet. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until bread is toasted and meat is hot.
