Apple Bars

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
2 eggs, separated
milk (about 1/2 cup)
1 cup cornflakes
12 apples, peeled and sliced
1 - 1 1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Directions:

Cut flour and salt into shortening. Beat egg yolks and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Mix well and add to flour mixture. Roll 1/2 of the dough between 2 sheets of wax paper to fit a jellyroll pan. Crush cornflakes and spread on dough. add apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Roll the rest of the dough for top. Beat egg whites and brush on top. Bake at 350° for 50–60 minutes. Frost with mixture of powdered sugar and milk.
