Combine the orange juice, soy sauce, garlic, and butter, if desired, over medium-high heat in a small saucepan. Cook until the mixture becomes thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
Wash and pat dry the salmon steaks. With a spoon, rub the soy marinade on both sides of the fish. Refrigerate 1-2 hours before preparing.
Preheat oven to 450° and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the fish flakes when tested with a fork.
Note: The salmon steaks may also be broiled, grilled, or microwaved.
