Cream Crisco and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Stir in flour, 1 cup at a time, along with other dry ingredients. Chill 1/2 hour. Shape dough into marble-sized balls, roll in natural sugar, and place 1 inch apart on baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 8 -10 minutes. May be halved or doubled.
Editor's Extra: Put a cinnamon candy on top while hot for an extra bit of color and spice.
