Blanch broccoli for 2 minutes if you wish. Cut off florets and cut into serving pieces, discard stems. Freshen florets in ice water for 5 minutes, drain, and dry. Put florets in a salad bowl. Mix together sugar, raisins, onions, vinegar, and mayonnaise. Pour dressing over broccoli and toss lightly. (Can be prepared an hour or so in advance; cover and refrigerate.) Just before serving, add crumbled bacon on top.
