* Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter and blend with a fork or pastry blender until texture of cornmeal. Add milk and egg, stirring just to moisten. Peach Cobbler Filling:
*Heat oven to 400° F. Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg or cinnamon, salt, and peaches. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until peaches are tender and syrup thickens. Pour into 8-inch square baking dish dot with butter. Drop cobbler dough by spoonfuls onto hot fruit filling. Bake 20 minutes.
