Sauté onion in oil in saucepan. Stir in tomatoes, broth, curry powder, and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat; cover and simmer 10 minutes. Cool slightly.
Process mixture in food processor, half at a time, till smooth. Serve hot or chilled.
