Put crabmeat in a bowl with a lid; put onion on top of crabmeat. Combine vinegar and oil and pour over crabmeat and onion. Season to taste. Put ice cubes on top. Do not stir. Chill 12 hours, covered. Serve with slotted spoon on a bed of lettuce.
