Preheat oven to 275°.
Using an electric mixer set at medium speed, in a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla. Slowly add flour and baking soda and mix well. Fold in chocolate chips.
Butter and flour a 10-inch springform pan. Pour nuts into the bottom of the pan and press cookie dough over the nuts. Bake at 275° for approximately 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
