Mash enough strawberries to make 1 cup. Combine mashed strawberries with sugar and cornstarch and add 1/2 cup boiling water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Add food coloring. Place glaze in refrigerator to cool. Wash remaining berries, slice to desired pieces, and place in baked pie shell. When ready to serve, pour cooled glaze over sliced berries and top with whipped cream.
