Beat egg whites to a froth. Drop by the teaspoonful in boiling sweet milk. When done, place on a plate. Combine sugar, salt, and cornstarch in top of double boiler. Add milk, stir in chocolate, and boil 8–10 minutes. Remove from fire and stir, adding beaten egg yolks. Place again over fire and stir, but do not let boil. Add vanilla. Put in shallow dish and slip the islands on the cream.
