"Gold Medal" was the name given to the flour that the Washburn Crosby Company entered into competition at the Millers' International Exhibition in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1880. Cadwallader C. Washburn and his three grades of spring wheat swept the gold, silver and bronze medals, beating all other competitors at the exhibition.
