The First Betty Crocker Cookbook When BETTY CROCKER'S PICTURE COOK BOOK was published in 1950, it was called "a new and different cook book for a new age!" Many homemakers had been asking for a book to replace the GOLD MEDAL COOK BOOK that their mothers and grandmothers had used. Betty dedicated her new book "to homemakers everywhere-to all of you who like to minister to your dear ones by serving them good food…" This new book used the latest shortcuts, equipment and prepared foods, and it included extra tips and cooking secrets.
