Caraway Cheese Bread

Ingredients

1 cup water
3 cups bread flour
3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 teaspoons caraway seed
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine or quick active dry yeast

Directions:

Make 1 ½-Pound Recipe with bread machines that use 3 cups flour, or make 2-Pound Recipe with bread machines that use 4 cups flour.

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

Select Basic/White cycle. Use Medium or Light crust color. Do not use delay cycles Remove baked bread from pan, and cool on wire rack.

1 Slice: 150 calories (25 calories from fat) 3g fat (2g saturated) 5mg cholesterol 190mg sodium 27 carbohydrate (1g dietary fiber) 5g protein

We found from our testing that the same amount of yeast is needed fro both the 1 ½-pound and 2-pound loaves.

SUCCESS TIP
We don't recommend this recipe for bread machines that have cast-aluminum pans in a horizontal-loaf shape because our results after several tests were unsatisfactory.

TRY THIS
Instead of using caraway seed, use celery seed in half the amount called for in the recipe. Celery seed-flavored cheese bread is excellent with sandwich fillings such as egg, tuna and chicken salad.
