Using an electric mixer on medium speed, blend shortening and sugar until smooth; add egg and beat well. Whisk flour, baking powder and nutmeg together; blend in milk. Stir flour mixture into shortening mixture until well blended. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, until golden. Remove muffins from tin and roll in melted butter; immediately toss in cinnamon-sugar.
