Crumble sausage into a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onion and cook, stirring often, until sausage is browned and onion is transparent. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings in saucepan. Stir in flour. Cook over medium-low heat about 6 minutes, or until mixture bubbles and becomes golden. Stir in milk and seasonings; cook and stir until thickened. To serve, spoon gravy over biscuit halves.
