Whisk together flour, sugar and baking powder. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Remove one cup of crumbs for topping; set aside. Whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla until smooth; add to flour mixture. Pour into three greased 8" round cake pans. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until center tests done. Makes 3 cakes; each serves 5.
