2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon orange peel grated
1 tablespoon water
2 cups walnuts
Microwave Directions: In a glass bowl, microcook butter (or margarine) till melted, about 30 seconds. Add remaining ingredients and stir till walnuts (may substitute with pecans or blanched almonds) are coated. Microcook on HIGH, uncovered, 4 to 5 minutes or till nuts are toasted and glazed, stirring 2 to 3 times. Spoon nuts onto wax paper. Separate with fork. Cool. Makes 2 1/2 cups.
Gift Container: Place nuts in an airtight container lined with cellophane or a paper doily. Or place them in a plastic bag and enclose the bag in a fabric drawstring bag or Christmas stocking.
Conventional Cooking: In heavy pan over medium heat, melt butter (or margarine). Add remaining ingredients and stir till nuts are coated. Cook, uncovered, till nuts are toasted and glazed, stirring occasionally. Spoon nuts onto wax paper, and separate with fork. Cool.
