Adjust oven rack 6 inches from heat source. Preheat broiler. Coat a broiler pan and rack with non-stick spray.
In a medium bowl, mix ground beef, pork and beans, green onions, 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, salt and pepper until well blended. Shape mixture into four patties, each about 3/8 inch thick. Brush each with 1 tablespoon of the remaining barbecue sauce.
Broil patties for 8 minutes or until desired doneness (do not turn over).
Serve with toasted onion rolls, sliced tomatoes and root beer floats.
Variation: Drain pork and beans, reserving liquid. Mix pork and beans with green onions set aside. Mix ground beef with bean liquid, 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, salt and pepper. Shape into eight patties. Spread bean mixture on four of the patties to within 1/2 inch of edge. Cover with a second patty pinch edges to seal. Brush with remaining barbecue sauce. Broil until desired doneness.
