Combine the pears, ginger, ½ cup sugar, lemon zest and juice and place in a casserole dish. In a second bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder and 1 tablespoon of sugar and combine with the margarine into a crumbly mixture. Beat the milk and egg substitute together and add to the mixture. Dot the pears with dough, flatten slightly and sprinkle with the remaining sugar and the chopped nuts. Bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes until brown.
