Ingredients

1 egg
1 cup soft bread cubes
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons onion salt
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
dash of pepper
1 1/2 pounds ground beef or ground chuck
6 sticks cheese (2 1/2x 1/2x 1/2)
3 tablespoons oil
2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 teaspoons crumbled parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon crumbled, dried oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
12 ounces elbow macaroni, rigatoni, or your choice

Directions:

Beat egg in a large bowl; stir in bread cubes, milk, onion salt, 1 teaspoon parsley, and pepper. Mix into ground beef. Divide mixture into 6 equal parts and shape each into a loaf around a cheese stick. Brown on top and bottom in hot oil in skillet; remove from skillet and drain off fat. Add tomato sauce, onion, 3 tea spoons parsley, oregano, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt to skillet. Heat and stir, loosening brown particles from bottom of skillet. Add meat loaves; spoon sauce over top. Cover and simmer 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain. Serve meat loaves and sauce over hot macaroni.

Fun Fact: The first two bells cracked while being tested; the third casting of the Liberty Bell was hung in the tower of Independence Hall on June 7, 1753. It was hidden in a church basement in Allentown from 1777–1778 to protect it from the British. Rung every July 4th and on every state occasion until 1835, the bell cracked as it was being tolled for the death of Chief Justice John Marshall. In 1976, the Liberty Bell was moved to its present location in a glass pavilion near Independence Hall.
