To prevent salmonella contamination, which can cause food poisoning, follow these simple guidelines:
Wash your hands before and after handling uncooked poultry.
Thaw chicken in the refrigerator or microwave, never on the countertop.
Scrub the countertop, cutting board and cutlery with hot, soapy water before you use them to prepare other foods.
