False: These foods from vegetable sources don’t provide cholesterol however, they do provide a concentrated source of fat and calories. Only animal foods contain cholesterol.
Fact: Chicken and fish are cholesterol free.
False: Contrary to popular belief, chicken and fish do contain cholesterol. These foods supply less fat and saturated fat in general than do red meats, such as beef and pork.
Fact: Foods low in cholesterol are low in fat too.
False: Whether or not a food contains cholesterol doesn’t have any bearing on the amount of fat that’s present in the food. Cholesterol is only found in foods of animal origin: meats, fish, poultry, some seafood and dairy products. But fat is found in both plant and animal foods.
