Combine coffee, sugar and water. Heat until dissolved; cool. Add vodka and vanilla. Pour into half-gallon glass container. Age 2 weeks. Use as is for Kahlua or serve mixed with milk.
Editor's Extra: My sweet little mother made batches of this and put it in sterilized brown bottles (she had friends save bottles from other kinds of liquors—the bottles had to be dark glass), dated them and then gave them as treasured gifts—the older ones were the best!
