Pour oil into a 13"x9" baking pan; tilt to coat the bottom. Pour cake mix, eggs and water into pan. Stir with a fork until well blended, about 2 minutes. Spoon pie filling over batter and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes.
Tip: A long skewer or even a strand of spaghetti is useful in testing the doneness of deep cakes.
