Beat egg well, then mix with milk. Blend flour, baking powder, and salt into egg mixture. Stir in apples. Drop by tablespoonsful into hot grease. Deep-fry at 350° until golden brown. Roll hot fritters in powdered sugar. If you like a sweeter fritter, add 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon to batter. Canned chunk pineapple can be used instead of apples.
These are best hot, just out of the fryer, but are pretty good for a couple of hours if they last that long.
