Chop 3/4 cup walnuts coarsely and the remainder fine for tops of brownies. Sift flour with baking powder. Combine butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla; beat well. Stir in chocolate syrup, then flour mixture. Add coarsely chopped nuts. Turn into greased, 8-inch square baking pan. Spread level. Sprinkle with finer walnuts. Bake at 350° for about 50 minutes. Cool. Cut in squares.
