Wash and hull berries. Put 1 quart of berries into prepared pie crust. Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in saucepan. Crush remaining 1/2 quart berries and place in saucepan with sugar and water. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly and cook until thick and clear. Remove from heat; add butter and enough food coloring to make the color pronounced but not too red. Strain glaze and pour carefully over berries in pie shell. Cool before serving. Pipe edges around pie with whipped cream.
