Gourmet Smothered Onions Amandine

Ingredients

1/3 cup butter
1 cup whole or slivered almonds
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
dash each of cayenne pepper, nutmeg, and ground cloves
3 dozens very small onions (frozen one do well)

Directions:

Melt butter in a casserole on top of stove and add everything except the onions. Stir until well blended. Add onions and stir until they are well coated. Cover and bake in a moderate oven (350°) about an hour, stirring 3 or 4 times.
