Serves: 5
Steep fresh mint in best brandy; make a syrup of sugar and water (use this sparingly); fill a tumbler (cut-glass) to one-third of brandy; put in 3 teaspoonfuls of syrup; fill glass with pounded ice; stick 5 or 6 sprigs of mint on top and 2 or 3 strawberries. If old whiskey is used instead of brandy, more is required to make it strong enough. For an extra fillip, dash the julep with rum.
