Cream butter. Add sugar and cream and mix well. Beat in egg yolks; mix well. Add whole eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Stir soda into buttermilk and add to creamed mixture alternately with flour, blending well. Add vanilla.
Pour into 3 greased layer cake pans and bake at 375° for 20–25 minutes or until done. Cool and frost with white frosting made from egg whites left from the 2 yolks used in the recipe. If baked in a loaf, bake at 325° until done.
