Clean the strawberries; place in saucepan and pour boiling hot water over them. Set 1 minute; drain off water. Put on stove; bring to a boil. Boil 3 minutes, then add 3 cups of sugar; bring to a boil, boiling for 3 minutes. Add the remaining 3 cups of sugar; bring to a boil, cooking 3 minutes.
Set aside; let cool—sometimes overnight. This thickens as it cools. Pour into glasses the next day and seal with wax, or use seal-type lid.
