Veal or Round Steak Lausanne

Ingredients

2 pounds veal cutlets or beef round steak
flour for coating
salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons shortening, melted, or bacon drippings
1 cup sliced raw onion ring
1 (4-ounce) can button mushrooms, drained
1/3 cup light cream
3 tablespoons dry white wine

Directions:

Coat the meat in the flour and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Brown meat in shortening. Arrange in a shallow baking dish. Sauté onions in the same skillet; pour over meat. Garnish with mushrooms. Add cream and wine. Bake covered at 375° approximately 40 minutes or until tender.

Editor's Extra: Never cook with wine you wouldn’t drink. If it doesn’t taste good, it’s not going to make the recipe taste good either.
