1. Wash rice thoroughly. Bring 4 to 5 cups of water to a boil in the bottom of a double boiler. Place rice in the top and add cold water 1/2 inch higher than rice.
2. Cook 1 to 1 1/2 hours over medium heat. Do not lift lid or stir.
NOTE: If you're cooking just one cup of rice by this method, cook 20 minutes at medium heat 20 minutes more at low heat.
