With an electric mixer on medium speed, whip cream until it begins to thicken. Slowly add sugar and almond extract; continue beating until soft peaks form. To serve, add one tablespoon amaretto liqueur to each of 12 coffee cups. Fill with hot brewed coffee and top each with a dollop of whipped cream. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings and serve.
