Brown ground beef and onion together; drain. Combine beef mixture with beans in a large bowl; stir in remaining ingredients except bacon. Pour into a lightly greased 13"x9" baking dish; lay bacon slices on top. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
Tip: Light or dark brown sugar, which should you choose? Light brown sugar offers mild sweetness, while dark brown sugar adds richness. Try it in baked beans, where its distinct molasses taste is especially delicious.
