Drain and clean, as needed, a can of salmon. Combine cream cheese, salmon, lemon juice, grated onion, horseradish, liquid smoke and salt. Mix carefully to a smooth consistency and form into balls. Roll balls in finely chopped nuts, or roll in chopped olives. Refrigerate for several hours before serving. These balls can be successfully frozen.
