Scald 1 quart milk; add sugar and a pinch of salt. Beat eggs, then add cold milk. Stir and add gradually to hot milk mixture. Cook in top of double boiler until custard coats the spoon. Allow to cool. When cold, add flavoring. Serve in dessert dishes. Top with a heaping tablespoon of whipped cream, peaked at the top, and add a red cherry to the side of the dish.
