1. Heat oven to 350°. Grease baking sheets.
2. Place raisins in a small saucepan. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes or until softened. Cool slightly and drain, reserving 3 tablespoons of the liquid. Dissolve baking soda in the reserved raisin liquid.
3. Mix flour, cinnamon, and salt. Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl with electric mixer until fluffy. Beat in eggs, dissolved baking soda, and maple flavor. On low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture. By hand, stir in raisins and pecans. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 1 1/2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets. If desired, press a pecan half in center of each cookie. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
High Altitude Adjustments: At 6,000 feet, use 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
