1. Heat oven to 425°. Have a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan ready.
2. To make cookie layer, mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg yolks and vanilla. Shape into a ball. Press in bottom of pan, building up a small edge around sides of pan. Spread with cranberry sauce.
3. To make topping, mix flour, sugar, and vanilla in a small bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over cranberry sauce. Pat crumbs very lightly into sauce. Place pan in top third of oven. Reduce oven temperature to 375°. Bake 25 to 30 minutes until top is lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
