Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, cream butter, peanut butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir into the batter. Cover bowl and refrigerate batter for 1 hour. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten balls with a fork, making a crisscross pattern. Bake on middle level of preheated oven about 10 minutes or until cookies begin to brown. Do not overbake. Remove immediately to cooling racks.
Note: For a softer cookie, substitute 1/3 of the 2 sugars with granulated fructose, a natural fruit sugar sold in supermarkets or health food stores.
