In small saucepan, mix gelatin and 2 tablespoons sugar; blend in egg yolks and milk. Let stand 1 minute. Cook, stirring occasionally, over low heat until gelatin is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Pour into large bowl and chill, stirring occasionally, until mixture mounds slightly when dripped from a spoon.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining sugar and beat until stiff. Gently fold into gelatin mixture. Refrigerate until set.
