Brown bacon in large saucepan. Add green beans, water, salt, pepper, and potatoes. Cover and simmer 40–50 minutes or until potatoes are tender. (Gently stir at 10-minute intervals to prevent sticking. Additional water may be added, if needed.) After potatoes are cooked, remove 1/2 cup hot liquid from beans and potatoes. Combine with margarine and flour to make creamy paste. Stir paste into beans and potatoes while still cooking. Simmer 10 minutes, or long enough to thicken liquid.
