8 slices white bread trimmed of crusts and cubed
1/2 pound swiss cheese natural or sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 16-ounce can tomatoes drained (reserve liquid)
5 eggs beaten
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter real
Heat oven to 350° F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish. Layer bread and cheese alternately ending with cheese on top. Mix reserved liquid from tomatoes with beaten eggs, salt, and pepper. Pour over bread and cheese. Slice tomatoes and place on top. Dot with butter. Bake for 45 minutes.
