4 tablespoons butter or margarine
4 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk scalded
1 1/2 teaspoons mustard prepared
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 cup cheddar cheese grated
1/2 pound ham cooked cut in 1/2 -inch cubes
6 eggs hard-cooked, halved
2/3 cup bread crumbs
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
In saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons butter or margarine, add flour and cook 2 minutes while stirring. Add milk, stirring constantly with whisk. Simmer until thickened. Add mustard, Worcestershire sauce and cheese and heat until cheese melts. Add ham and heat through.
Pour 1/2 the sauce into a flat baking dish. Arrange halved eggs on sauce. Cover with remaining sauce, then bread crumbs mixed with 2 tablespoons melted butter. (Up to this point, this may be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated.)
At serving time, heat until bubbly and hot in moderate oven. Don't overcook or eggs will become rubbery.
