1. In large mixing bowl, beat egg, oil, yogurt, brown sugar, applesauce, vanilla and lemon peel. Add raisins and bran mix well.
2. Sift the flour, baking powder, and spices into wet ingredients and mix only until combined.
3. Spoon into 8-inch square cake pan coated with nonstick vegetable cooking spray. Lightly press nuts into top of batter. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool, then cut into squares (squares will be moist).
