1. Place 1 cup apple juice and apple in medium saucepan and bring to biol. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for bout 5 minutes or until just tender-crisp.
2. Stir arrowroot or cornstarch into the remaining 1/4 cup apple juice.
3. Add tot he pan along with the lemon peel, vanilla, and nutmeg, stirring until sauce thickens.
4. Remove from heat and stir in the blueberries and strawberries.
5. Serve warm, at room temperature, or cold. Refrigerate leftover sauce.
