Preheat oven to 350°F (prepare coals for Dutch Oven). Brown spareribs in cast iron skillet using fat. When brown on both sides, remove spareribs to Dutch Oven. Melt butter and brown onions in cast iron skillet and add remainder of ingredients, stir and pour over ribs in Dutch Oven. Cook in Dutch Oven until ribs are tender.
